This thread is an extension of the Sustainable Fuel Guide and the place to share exactly how you're using DirtBags to fuel your adventures.
DirtBags are part of Project #1 - Fuelling Shouldn't Cost The Earth
It covers the first two pillars of For The Trail:
- How to make trail running more affordable
- How to ask less of the environment
Whether you're buying in bulk, making your own fuel at home, or carrying whole foods on the trail, I want to hear what's working, what isn't, what you've discovered and what's surprised you.
The Sustainable Fuel Guide started with my own testing and research but the best knowledge in here will always come from people actually doing it. Every suggestion shared in this thread has the potential to be added to the guide as it grows.

A few things worth sharing if you have them:
- What you're putting in your DirtBags and why
- Your cost per serving compared to what you were spending before
- How you're setting up your DirtBags for different distances
- Any tips, tricks or discoveries worth knowing
- Are you buying in bulk or making your own fuels at home?
- Recipes that work brilliantly or ones that definitely don't
This is about finding what works for you, spending less doing it and asking less of the planet at the same time.
I'll start below with how I'm currently fuelling. Over to you. 👇
